With growing costs of tax litigation, there is an urgent need for adopting a new mind-set, focused on holistic tax controversy management, rather than relying solely on traditional litigation which is just one of the ways to resolving tax controversies. Alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, including those under Tax Treaties, Bilateral Investment Promotion Agreements, and the Advance Ruling route are some of the options that can be effectively leveraged to address tax controversies.
We represent cases before the Tax Authorities such as the Transfer Pricing Officer, International Tax Officer, Dispute Resolution Panel, GAAR Approving Panel, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Settlement Commission and Authority for Advance Rulings (AAR).
We also represent cases for Mutual Agreement Procedure (MAP) under the Tax Treaties.
Our approach and strategy to handle Disputes and Litigation is to effectively resolve them. Our Senior Partner, Nilesh Patel, being a Former IRS Officer, who has also worked as Department Representative Counsel in ITAT, is skillful in resolving Tax Disputes. We have strong research capabilities as well as extensive experience in all aspects of tax controversy management.
